E/A Farming problem!
Hey guys,
I really would like to try some soloing in DoA, however to do that with my assassin, I need to get her some daggers with +20% enchantment. I know I could just buy them, but where's the fun in that? :P
So I've been trying to solo Chimor for his daggers (with my Ele), but I'm struggling :S In the last hour and a half, I've only killed him once!
My problem is there are graven images near him, which can disable my elite... but if I cast Shadow Form before them, then I don't have enough time with Chimor. Can someone with experience lend some advice??
I've searched the forums and all I've found (which is a great general guide) is below.
Cheers,
Rukh
Me (in the order I cast): Shadow of Haste, Glyph of Elemental Power, Shadow Form, Death's Charge, Sliver Armour, Obsidian Flame, Dark Escape, Feigned Neutrality
Chimor: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Chimor_the_Lightblooded

Yes... Chimor is a bitch to farm. There's not really much to it, get as close to him as possible without aggro-ing the Monoliths, SF then hope for the best.
The daggers are cute and widdle, well worth it.
brb... gonna see what I can come up with, any other pointers.
EDIT - Aaand... I just hugged the mob of Monolith till they were as close to Chimmy as possible, Shadow Form'd, then ran with Escape to minimize the time I weren't killing him in. Aggroing every single critter near him helps too - he's as squishy as sin, as long as Sliver don't target any of the melee torment demons that may rush you, he drops like a fly.

Stumbled across Dusk440 on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=dusk440), with 15 shadow form farming videos!
One of which was the pain in the bum, Chimor :P
If you approach from the Gate of the Nightfallen Lands (like I was doing) you struggle to get to the boss AND he's only got a couple of minions.
If you approach from the Gate of Torment, it's a longer run but you can get to him AND he's got more mobs around him

Yeah, rukh as i wrote in the description of the video take both crystal wave and tenai's crystals since you have trouble with SF running out. If you run from the Gate of Torment there's a res shrine a little bit further from the right turn towards him, cap it and even if you fail just retry. He won't be at full health probably.
It's always better to have a staff with +15 energy and 20% longer enchantments than +5 energy 20% longer enchantment daggers. I only use them for solo farming where i use dagger mastery. You might wanna construct your own staff when you have money, it's not all that expensive.
For example, this is what i use with both my E/A and A/E:
Nothing too fancy but it has all you need.

Sometimes 12 fire magic isn't enough damage, so you need to go E/A for 16 fire magic.

i use deaths charge whenever i use my sin to A/E solo farm, or at least some shadow stepping spell. Dark prison works grt too. after boss is dead u can use the skill again to step to farthest foe and make a clean getaway.

Nekopowa, a staff is a good idea. I'm currrently using a totem axe and a earth focus with my ele (+17 energy, 20% enchant), so I guess I can just transfer them across. However I will still try for the daggers, as in DoA, I wont be using sliver armour for damage (see below).
Re skills, I will drop feigned neutrality for crystal wave and replace obsidian flame for tenai's crystals.
Badasschris, what can an assassin farm that an ele can't? Well, I want to figure out a way to get permanent shadow form, so I can do an entire area in DoA... which I think you can do with SF at lvl16, arcane echo and arcane mimicry
Thanks for the suggestions!

yup... but you'll need an ally for mimicry to work... As for the area Ele presumably cant do and an A can... E/R Obsidian tank... gg same weaknesses as Assassin, except most PBAOE doesnt hurt the ele, where the A gets pwned...

So what you're saying is that an E/R obsidian tank with no damage skills whatsoever, or energy managment for that matter can do a better job at solo/duo the *entire* DoA than a Sin? You do realize aggro spreads when there's over 3 mobs on one person and that you need damage to actually kill someone?
No class can solo the entire DoA, if you go ench based build titans will strip them off you. If you go Shadow Form Sin touchers in Stygian will kill you, etc etc.

nekopowa is correct when he says that

At least at the moment However I would like to be able to at least do one area! So far I've managed to get about halfway through the Foundry with 3 men (but the group was very fragile - one mistake and it's all over) and the first bit of Veil solo (necro)...
Do you think two assassins would have a chance at any of the areas? Obviously not veil!
